Ok, let’s get into this week’s Anthem 👇

The Anthem is made possible in part by El Tesoro, a neighborhood treasure serving good quality food at reasonable prices.

🌮 El Tesoro is hosting us tonight, and a Community Market on Saturday (9/12) from 3-8pm, with art, books, ceramics, vintage, and tarot vendors set up around the patios. Grab tacos and drinks while you browse.

Harbor Coffee rolled out a Faux Fall menu featuring a house-made syrup with dark brown sugar, cardamom, pumpkin pie spices, and orange peel, plus an apple cider slushie. Also, you’ve got about 3 weeks left to enjoy the CHAIcee (oat chai icee).

🍺 Big news out of Decatur: Inner Voice Brewing changed their license to a brewpub, so they're now serving cocktails, wine, and cider alongside their own beer. Meanwhile, Brainwave Pizza dropped a Pizzamasala special, a Chicken Tikka Masala pie with griddled paneer, curried chicken, mint raita, and cilantro, available for about a month.

🍕 File this under sentences we didn't expect to write: Fred Martin Welding Co. is running a buy one, get one where every welded Lego man sculpture comes with a free Staplehouse pizza or sandwich.

Taproom heard you: the Banana Bread Latte is back on the fall menu, alongside new flavors including a pumpkin miso cappuccino with white miso and ginger. Available now in shop and through mobile ordering.

🍯 Sugar Loaf rolls out sticky buns and cinnamon rolls on weekends only: a "Sticky Buna" with spiced dates, coffee caramel, and local pecans, plus cinnamon rolls with a Chinese five spice filling and buttermilk orange glaze. First come first served.

📋 Wyld Bird, Some Luck, and Revolution Doughnuts are all hiring. Hit the Anthem job board for more info.

🍺 Beer enthusiasts, listen up… The Porter is putting 3 Floyds on draft for the first time with a tap takeover on Tuesday (9/16) from 6-8pm. Expect Zombie Dust and friends, no tickets needed.

🍗 Southern Belle at Vela Park Food Works dropped a new Gochujang Hot Honey sauce for their fried chicken sandwich, sweet, spicy, and stacked with pickles and slaw.

🌯 Poco Loco's weekly breakfast burritos are named "The Wine Stroll" and "The Plant Sale" this week, both $11. The meat one stacks Pine Street Market bacon, hashbrowns, sweet heat jalapeños, and 5N Farm eggs. Feels like they've been reading our weekend plans. -Connor

🥩 Bona Fide Deluxe brought back Nonna's Cheesesteak as this week's special: house-smoked top round with caramelized onions, pickled banana peppers, sun-dried tomato and roasted red pepper mayo, and provolone, mozzarella, and American on a toasted Alon's Bakery Tuscan hoagie. Available through Sunday only.

Little Rat Coffee has been over at Mikkelson's Market this week for a coffee pop-up and will be there again today & Saturday from 8a-3pm.

🍖 There’s a lot to love about this new dish from Little Bear — strip steak, grilled cabbage wedge, XO fromage blanc dressing, chili oil, málà bacon, pickled peppers, herb salad — but personally I love that they’ve tagged 10 local farmers and producers in their ingredients. Truly a masterclass of sustainable sourcing, community building, and absolutely delicious food.

🌺 Love beer and tequila? You’re gonna love this Paloma Sour from 3 Taverns Brewery. Fun fact: I made a Peach Paloma for Connor’s wedding. Another fun fact: we both got married at the Trolley Barn.

🇩🇪 James here. My favorite kind of beers are Oktoberfest beers — which means I’ll pretty much be camped out at Halfway Crooks from Sept 12 - Oct 4 (not a huge departure from my typical routine tbf) as they release three Oktoberfest beers in 1 Liter glasses, and host a variety of activities for people of all ages. Let’s goooooooooo!
