This week’s Anthem is brought to you again by Peachy Insurance. If you’re like most homeowners, it’s probably been a while since you last reviewed your coverage. A quick check can help make sure your policy still fits your life.

As a special offer for Anthem readers, if you fill out this form and complete an insurance quote from a licensed Peachy Insurance agent, they’ll thank you with a $10 gift card from El Tesoro.

We’ve heard that Anthem readers have already saved between $600-$750 per year on their policies by switching.

Peachy Insurance is not affiliated with El Tesoro. E-Gift card will be sent to the email address provided within 7 days of completing the quote.

James here. I hope like heck you haven’t been feeling what I have this past week. My 2-year old managed to catch a sinus infection, ear infection, and viral pink eye. Apparently we’ve done too good a job teaching her about sharing because I’ve been down and out, only just starting to feel human yesterday.

There’s a lot going around — fellow newsletter writer and father Thomas Wheatley over at Axios Atlanta has also been down for the count this week.

But like the Phoenix of Atlanta, we rise from the ashes of snotty tissues and puffy eyes to bring you the best of East Atlanta. Or something like that anyway.

Anyway, enough about me.

Before we get into this week’s Anthem, we’d like to wish Anthem reader Eleanor B. a very happy birthday (9/23)!

The Anthem is made possible in part by El Tesoro, a neighborhood treasure serving good quality food at reasonable prices.

🌮 El Tesoro is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a mole taco plate featuring flavors of central Mexico, plus margarita flights, 3oz each of passion fruit, spicy, and mezcal margs, through October 15th.

If you need Friday off, Casseroles has got you. Pick up comfort food for the whole family while enjoying complimentary pours of French wines from their friends at Georgia Crown.

🥪 Sugar Loaf is now offering delivery through ChowNow within a 3-mile radius, and breakfast is available all day. Flat delivery fee, no upcharges on menu items, and it's discounted on orders over $30.

🍹 Wyld Bird rolled out a new daily happy hour with $5 margaritas, $3 beers, and $3 empanadas, running 5-6pm and again 9-10pm every day.

🍨 Staplehouse dropped their September Sundae of the Month, featuring rye-stewed peaches, a dulce and cream cheese swirl, lemon ginger biscuit, and a cinnamon tuile.

Say goodbye to summer on Sunday from 1-3 pm with FREE affogatos from Opocoffee. Thanks to a partnership with Minor Figures, all ice cream will be dairy free.

🍸 Besto in Decatur has new happy hour specials — classic cocktails like Martinis and Negronis for $7, Tuesday - Friday from 5-7 pm.

🥪 Billy's reopened at its Avondale Estates location after 108 days closed. Show them some love.

☕️ As the summer winds down, coffee harvest in Ethiopia is just beginning. Celebrate “Meher” with Sojourner Mobile Coffee at Intown Ace Hardware (Decatur) today and tomorrow (9/18) from 8-2pm. They’re kicking off a new seasonal menu with “Sidama Sunrise”, a refreshing starfruit green coffee natural energy with a hint of mixed berry.

🥟 Side Quest has taken up residency at Mushi Ni — check them out on Monday (9/21) from 5-10 pm. Here’s the menu.

🍷 Sagra can now serve beer, wine, and cocktails. We got a hot tip from Anthem reader Chris M. that their Chinatto Manhattan and Caribbean Cold Brew cocktails are excellent.

🦆 You had me at Hennessy. Check out this new menu item from Argosy: Hennessy Duck. Best enjoyed with a nice Pinot noir or a shot of Hennessy. No judgment here.

🐔 Reminder: You can get $1 wings at Sweet Auburn BBQ every Wednesday.

🍋 Speaking of wings, Atlanta legend Mike Jordan is here to remind you where you can get the best lemon pepper wings in ATL.

🍔 Smiley's Burger Club, Lemon Pig, and Small Fry are dropping a one-time collab burger at Small Fry on September 23rd, alongside patty melts, tater tot casseroles, debris po'boys, and fried desserts. DJ and live art on hand too.

🍸 Next week is Negroni Week and if you get one at Ecco you’ll also be supporting Slow Food, one of my favorite organizations.

🍌 This is a great test to see if my wife reads this week’s Anthem because if she sees this new banana pudding from Mikkelson’s Market we’ll be there TODAY!

🥇 What I Tried For The First Time: A delicious and incredibly smooth Chai latte at Drip Coffee in Glenwood Park. Would recommend. - James

Introducing… Indy

Neighborhood: South Atlanta

About: Indy is the sweetest blue heeler and big sister to a 4 month old. She tries to herd/“protect” the stroller from anything with wheels on the beltline. Skateboards are her weakness.

Fun Fact: She gets so excited at meal time that she pulls out all her tricks all at once - stay, sit, lay down, roll over etc.

Thank you to Nicole & Dakota for sharing Indy with us.

If you want your pet featured in the Park Pet Supply Pet of the Week section of the Anthem, fill out this form!

😎 Online magazine Brooklyn Of aims to crown the coolest neighborhood in 150 cities around the world — aka the Brooklyn of those cities (🙄). According to them, EAV takes the crown in Atlanta thanks to “abundant used vinyl, dive bars, ubiquitous street murals, and big-wheel racing.” Little Five Points, Old Fourth Ward, and Reynoldstown were named runners-up.

🚧 Junkman’s Daughter in L5P is getting a facelift. Work is expected to take about a month, with a brief pause in between.

🎳 The Comet now has $5 bowling until 10pm, $3 after, every Friday this fall.

Atlanta City Golf has a new look and identity, uniting four municipal courses including east side staples Candler Park and Browns Mill. | More Info
