James: Alright folks, we’re in the perfect time of year where the weather’s cool and there’s never any rain nope never definitely not WAIT, WHY ARE WEEKENDS GETTING RAINED OUT IN OCTOBER?

Weather, I thought we had a deal: we, the people, endure 2 months of mind-melting humidity in exchange for glorious dry, cool weather come October. NOT COOL, WEATHER.

Alright, that’s a LOT of caps for a typical Anthem, so I’m gonna take a lap around my neighborhood to cool down and enjoy the distinct lack of clouds while I still can (no offense to our cloud correspondent Kavin).

Ok, time to get into this week’s Anthem 👇

The Anthem is made possible in part by El Tesoro, a neighborhood treasure serving good quality food at reasonable prices.

🌮 El Tesoro has a Margarita flight on the menu these days, and it comes highly recommended by… me, Connor. Grabbed one the other night. Comes with Spicy, Mezcal, and Passionfruit margs.

🎡 Wyld Bird has a new dessert called the Masa Frita: flash-fried funnel cake with guava crème anglaise, vanilla ice cream, mint syrup, and sea salt.

🍟 The Albert's October special is Loaded Fries, $8 for a small or $14 for a large.

🍢 Poor Hendrix just dropped a Pork Bulgogi entrée with sticky rice, funky pickles, and umami aioli. Had this on Monday… excellent - James

🐙 If you thought you saw a giant chrome, gold octopus on a wall in EAV, no you were not hallucinating. This incredible piece of art is real and glorious. Shoutout to Jeks, Outer Space Project, and Argosy.

🥐 Tous les Jours has new Spiral Croissants in two fall flavors. Pumpkin is filled with pumpkin cloud cream and topped with pumpkin pie spice and toasted pumpkin seeds. Vanilla Pecan is filled with vanilla cloud cream and topped with crunchy pecans.

🌮 Muchacho is opening a new location in Decatur at the old Revival location, which will feature live entertainment.

🍷 Kelly’s Market, also in Decatur, will soon be under new ownership, with new owners slated to take over operations tomorrow.

🍕 When I left Sagra the other night, I thought, “This place would be great on a Friday afternoon to unwind while I pretend to work.” Great minds think alike - Sagra is now open at 1pm Friday - Sunday. -James

🔼 Cool popup alert: Chef Luis Martinez will explore the connections between Oaxacan and Filipino cuisines at Kamayan on Monday.

🥖 Free hushpuppies, discounted wine and beer, and a shrimp and pork sausage bahn mi: BeetleCat's fall happy hour runs Monday-Thursday, 4-6pm.

🍪 La Macaron Guy's Cinna Crunch Cream Pie is a Cinnamon Toast Crunch oatmeal cookie with marshmallow buttercream. Find them at the Ormewood Makers Fest on 10/10.

🦃 Pre-order a smoked Thanksgiving Turkey from Sweet Auburn BBQ - you won’t be disappointed. I did this a few times before I worked up the courage to cook my own. They do an excellent job. - James

🌯 Poco Loco is rolling out The Big Boi for $11 this week, stuffed with chorizo from Evergreen(!), Tucker Farms arugula in a green chile cream, roasted sweet potatoes, 5N Farm eggs, and cheddar.

🦞 Sometimes I wonder if we feature certain restaurants too often but when Mushi Ni is cranking out dishes like this, what am I supposed to do? Both the lobster bisque and the squash croquettes made my mouth water. - James

🥦 Speaking of mouth-watering: check out this new special from Jolene Jolene that screams fall weather: Meatloaf with broccolini, glazed carrots, and roasted potatoes in a sauce that looks like you’ll wanna drink it straight from the bowl. (Also, our #1 rec for where to watch the Dream in the WNBA Playoffs this weekend.)

🥖 A group of Little Tart managers ate their way through Paris, came home, and are opening Midi in Candler Park. Sandwiches, wine, and soft serve are the plan, and they're hiring FOH now.

🚃 Remember those cool, cutting-edge MARTA trains that were supposed to roll out before the World Cup? After another missed deadline, there’s still no indication of when they’ll carry passengers.

📼 It took me (Connor) a minute, but I finally got part 1 of my local merch review series posted, highlighting a new drop from Videodrome.

⛳️ ATLGolfs just dropped their 2026-27 Atlanta Golf Pass and it has some pretty insane benefits if you play (or want to gift it to a golfer in your life). I’ve met the guy behind this project and he’s good people. -Connor

🌲 Could pine trees power airplanes? They will if Delta Air Lines has anything to say about it. Cool new partnership between Delta and Georgia timber farmers.
