Ok, let’s get into this week’s Anthem 👇
🍹 El Tesoro added a rare new mezcal to the lineup: Ultramundo Lamparillo Capón, made from wild agave harvested in Mexico's Zona del Silencio, a desert region wrapped in supernatural legend.
🍔 PSA: Evergreen is closed this Sunday… BUT they’re doing burgers on Saturday. They start serving at 1pm but we’d recommend arriving and lining up closer to 12:30.
🌮 The Waffle House Taco Reviews are in thanks to Thomas Wheatley of Axios. His verdict: “If you like a Waffle House sandwich and you like tacos (and can part with the toast), I think you'll enjoy Waffle House tacos.”
🍕 Sagra, the new wine bar/pizza spot in East Atlanta Village, is open now. BYOB until their liquor license comes through, Monday 6-9pm and Thursday through Sunday 5-9pm.
📰 Halfway Crooks just dropped a zine. A Lagerzine. Ed. 01 is available now, free for the taking.
🍔 Smiley's is coming in hot with another special… this time with help from Small Fry and Lemon Pig to bring us their first attempt at a Rodeo Burger: pepper-crusted smashers, sharp cheddar, bacon onion jam, cowboy pickles, onion rings, and bbq sauce.
☕ Babygirl launched a new drinks menu for the upcoming change in season, with some interesting additions to the cold drinks section like matcha orangeade.
🥐 Galette's Le Soir evening popup is back 9/4, 5:30-8pm, with a full menu of savory and sweet including muscadine peanut butter "pop tarts."
🌮 Green Coyote Cantina is now open in Avondale Estates, serving margaritas and Mexican bites. Hours are Wednesday and Thursday 5-9pm, Friday 11am-9pm.
🍷 Free wine Thursdays are back at Vine Fine Wine, kicking off September with a tasting from Weingut Weninger of Austria and Hungary.
☕ The General Muir's Coffee of the Month for September is the Honey Cake Latte: espresso, honey butter caramel sauce, whipped cream, and gingerbread-dusted almond slices, available hot or iced.
🥯 Gabriel’s Bagels is taking the east side by storm. The logo (a Das Kaiser joint) looks awesome. The bagels look better. Next batch will be available for preorder in a couple days here.
🍹 Little Cottage Brewery dropped a new pink cocktail called the Mai Only Rose. Rum barrel-aged seltzer, NA triple sec, orgeat, lime, and grenadine.
🐷 Kevin Gillespie’s pop up BBQ concept Terminus City BBQ is back after a 10-year hiatus, popping up at Gunshow on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays. Expect whole hog bbq, ribs, chicken, and sides galore.
🍕 There’s a lemon pepper pizza now available at Lloyd’s. I’d try a slice.
☕ There’s a new coffee shop coming to Grant Park: Condesa Coffee has a ribbon cutting ceremony next Wednesday at 10 am.
📋 Speaking of Condesa, they’re hiring. We have new jobs from them, Black Coffee, Evergreen, Glide, Smiley’s and more up on the job board.
🍜 Mushi added new plant-based dinner options like chilled green tea soba noodles and vegan ramen carbonara, plus hamachi kama. And yes, they really did make an ice cream flavor out of vanilla, Mexican coke, and Toki Whisky.
This week’s events section is presented by Northside Tutoring, the tutoring company Atlanta families trust when their students need help with a tough subject or preparation for the SAT, ACT or SSAT. Need some help? Founder Robert Feagin will personally call you to make a plan for your family. Request a call today.

Introducing… Marsha
Neighborhood: Gresham Park
About: Like many beloved pets, Marsha is a dog of many nicknames, our favorite being Baby Princess Swamp Monster. Swamp Monster because Marsha -> Marshy -> Swamp monster, and Baby Princess because... well... she's a Baby Princess.
Marsha had a bit of a rough start and was in the shelter system for a few years before a few exceptionally kind shelter volunteers and staff helped her get fostered. We adopted her from her foster home in 2023, and we've been in love ever since. Her favorite activities include surveying the neighborhood from atop her hill, hitting her humans with her favorite rope toy, grumbling, and of course, sleeping.
Fun Facts: Marsha has learned that barking at full volume at her humans is not appreciated, so on her own, she has learned to quietly(ish) harrumph while staring pointedly at her target.
Thank you to Elise for sharing Marsha with us.
