Welcome back to the East Atlanta Anthem. Connor and James here, and we’re so glad you’re with us.
The weather is back to hellish and sweaty and Connor and his wife got trapped in the downpour walking from Midway to their car last night. Luckily September is right around the corner. Cooler weather and college football is on the way!
Did you know, we lose about three minutes per day in September? That’s 21 minutes per week! (😱) Enjoy the brighter evenings while they last.

🚆 The original vision for the Atlanta Beltline was a light rail built upon old rail lines to reconnect neighborhoods, provide affordable housing, and increase revenue for local businesses. Now, the Atlanta Beltline CEO doesn’t think light rail makes sense on the Eastside, citing the ballooning cost and five year timeline that would harm thriving businesses. Instead, they’re looking at alternate transit options on the Eastside while continuing to explore light rail for other parts of the Beltline. Read more from Urbanize Atlanta.
🚉 Speaking of trains, Atlanta Regional Commission recommends moving the current Atlanta Amtrak station from it’s current location near Buckhead south towards Five Points. The current ATL Amtrak station is… well, let’s say underwhelming. It’s hard to get to and has little to no parking. Rather than renovating, ARC thinks it makes more sense to move and start over.
