🍲 Ruby Chow's just dropped a Rosé Tteokbokki, rice cakes and lap cheong sausage in a gochujang crème sauce. It’s rare for an Instagram post to stop me in my tracks the way this one did. -Connor
🍔 A 6 oz Wagyu patty, Freedom cheese, yakitori sauce, pickled onions and cucumbers on a milk bread brioche bun. Mushi Ni’s new lunch burger comes with umami fries or a house salad.
🍦 Two new flavors are swirlin’ at Big Softie: the vegan hibiscus sorbet collab with Lupe's Eatery is back, and a cinnamon soft serve just landed at all shops.
🍸 Kitty Dare is pouring three $10 negronis for Negroni Week: a classic, a Tegroni with Espolon Reposado, and a bubbly Sbagliato, with a portion supporting Slow Food USA.
🌭 Red's Beergarden is pouring Märzens and Festbiers and slinging three Oktoberfest brat specials through their Oktoberfest weekend.
🥯 Gabriel's Bagels and Ollie's Market team up for two special sandwiches Sunday 9/27, 9am until gone. Limited quantities.
👻 The Scary Spice is back at Finca to Filter, their in-house take on a PSL with extra spice.
🍹 Wyld Bird just launched a new daily happy hour: $5 margaritas, $3 beers, and $3 empanadas, from 5-6pm and again 9-10pm.
🛒 Mikkelson's Market has big news: starting Monday they open at 8am with the kitchen running all day, and Little Rat Coffee is joining them with a weekday residency. (FYI - James’ wife did NOT read last week’s Anthem. IYKYK).
🥄 Atlanta has one of the best food pop up scene’s in America, perhaps best epitomized by So So Fed. They’re open twice per week when OK YAKI (a former pop up itself) is closed, serving up Lao-Chinese-American food, often on the fly. CNN wrote a glowing tribute.
☕ Speaking of pop up’s EAV’s newest wine bar Sagra is hosting Vinny’s for a morning of Italian classics like cannoli, bomboloni, and coffee before the Strut kicks off.
🍑 The New York Times ranked their 50 favorite restaurants “right now,” with one Atlanta restaurant making the cut: So. Fox in VaHi, which opened in July. Quite the review.
🍎 Rough Draft wrote an ode to Concrete Jungle, one of my favorite organizations in Atlanta. They forage fresh fruit from the many fruit trees growing around Georgia and bring it to food pantries, which is often the only fresh food available for hungry families. Volunteering with CJ is a great way to meet new people, explore the city, and give back.
🥇 What I Tried For The First Time: A Philly cheesesteak from Uncle Phill’s. The owner recently posted a TikTok about how the business was struggling, and set a goal to hit 1,000 customers per week. I was driving home from East Point when suddenly the craving hit. I’ve been disappointed by many a cheesesteak in Atlanta (yes, even some of your favorites), but this one hit the spot. I assumed the 16 inch would leave me some leftovers for lunch, but I devoured the whole thing. It’s a little out of the way, but I’d give Uncle Phill’s a shot — it’s a good sandwich, and you’ll support a local entrepreneur. (James)

🦚 9/26 - EAST ATLANTA STRUT - Fourth Saturday in September means the Strut. East Atlanta's all-volunteer street festival brings a parade, live music, artists markets, and a porchfest, with every dollar of profit going back into local nonprofits.
We tried to pull some interesting happenings, but it’s an impossible task to cover everything. The best way to experience the Strut is to get out and about and explore for yourself!
🚲 Leave the car at home. Two Wheel Valet ATL is running a free bike valet at 1342 Glenwood Ave (the Peach State Federal Credit Union lot), taking bikes, e-bikes, scooters, and OneWheels from 11:30am until 6.
🍖 Parking Lot Beef is back for Strut. Tony's is posting up in the Midway parking lot with a ton of food, one day only, first come first serve.
🥤 Nine Dot is bringing a one-day-only Peach Slushy and its signature tropical flavors to an underground pop-up at 1257B Glenwood Ave, noon to 5. Free entry.
🎨 ABV Gallery hosts Art Yard Vol. 4 with OuterSpace Project: 10 murals painted live in the back lot, 10am to 6pm. Free.
🌭 529 is throwing a $500 hot dog eating contest at the Glizzy Hole during Strut, 3:45pm. May still have openings to participate. As a birthday gift to my wife, I am refraining from participating. -Connor

🚨 Imagine calling 911 and no one picks up. That’s what happened in Atlanta on Monday, after an unexplained outage caused their system to crash. Unnerving.
🚰 Your tap water might start tasting and smelling musty, but apparently is still safe to drink. (🤨 -Connor) It’s caused by algae in Lake Lanier (and others) which reaches its highest levels of concentration this time of year. Although not considered a problem, algae has seen a nearly 10x growth since 2024. Just another totally normal occurrence at Lake Lanier…
