Good morning East Atlanta!

James here. It’s always tough to follow up such an epic weekend.

I am still basking in the glow of a gloriously full Midway Pub to watch the USMNT win on Friday afternoon, late-night Glide Pizza on Saturday, followed by some atrocious golf played with my brother and Dad at Bobby Jones on Sunday.

In fact, I knew such a weekend couldn’t possibly be topped, so I left town yesterday to try and reset ahead of July 4th weekend.

But that doesn’t mean there’s not plenty of fun to be had on the East Side this weekend!

Now, let’s get into the Anthem 👇

The Anthem is made possible in part by El Tesoro, a neighborhood treasure serving good quality food at reasonable prices. See The Menu.

🌯 We obviously love the Edgewood El Tesoro, but if you’re looking for a fun place to watch World Cup action this weekend, might we recommend checking out their West End and South Downtown locations?

🌭 It’s official: Hot Dogs have taken over EAV. Argosy released a new summer hot dog special with chopped cheese over an all beef dog on a local French roll with garlic aioli.

🍔 This Crispy Mac Daddy sandwich from Sweet Auburn BBQ is massive, looks delicious, and is cheesy AF. I’m in.

😃 Your reminder to hit Poor Hendrix for happy hour: $8 cocktails with seasonal snacks that are delicious. My fav? The pita + veg + dip, which has just been updated to Pimento cheese. See you there.

🍑 Tickets are now on sale for a Peach Dinner at Wrecking Bar on July 9. 5 courses with drink pairings.

🍸 Madeira Park launched a happy hour running Tuesday through Friday from 3 to 5 p.m., with $6 rotating snacks, $10 freezer martinis, and $20 carafes of bubbly, orange, rosé, white, and red.

There’s a new convenience store in Grant Park: Pick n Choose Convenience Store is having a soft opening on Saturday.

🍞 Hell Yeah Gluten Free just opened a new location downtown on Auburn Ave.

Academy Coffee released their new summer coffee menu which includes a LEMON PEPPER WET beverage! You nutters you.

🧊 Soberish declared slushi season officially on, with a frozen grab-and-go cocktail spinning every weekend.

Loving these soccer specials from La Semila: they’ve got drink specials based on the country for select games. For example, get half off Spanish Wine on Friday during the Spain-Uruguay game.

🥟 It’s the last weekend to try your seasonal favorites at Mushi Ni… after Sunday, the smoked fish dip, blistered shishitos, beef bun cha, Mushi Ni salad, and duck bao (a favorite of James’) will no longer be on offer. Stay tuned for their summer menu.

🍨 Small Fry has the perfect way to cool down as summer heats up: they’re now stocking Sprecher Sodas for ice cream floats all summer.

😔 A few restaurant closings: Nadair, a Michelin-recognized restaurant rooted in Scottish heritage, closes tomorrow. Das Cocinita —aka Magic Taco — closed on Monday. And finally, Guac Y Margys is calling it after 9 years, with both locations closing for good on Sunday, June 28.

🙋 Now Hiring: Park Grounds is looking for help with their breakfast shift.
