Good morning East Atlanta! All 4,801 of you!

After an incredible month of June, what better time to put your feet up, cool off a bit, and relax this weekend.

NOT SO FAST!

We’re in the middle of a “heat dome” that won’t break until Tuesday, it’s America’s 250th birthday party on Saturday, and the World Cup rages on. You could say summer is just starting to heat up 😎

In case you’re wondering, no, it’s not a pleasant experience to have your AC break down during a heat dome. Had that happen this week, but all systems are a go headed into the weekend. -Connor

Let’s get into this week’s Anthem 👇

The Anthem is made possible in part by El Tesoro, a neighborhood treasure serving good quality food at reasonable prices.

🌯 We obviously love the Edgewood El Tesoro, but if you’re looking for a fun place to watch World Cup action this weekend, might we recommend checking out their West End and South Downtown locations? My wife and I watched the USA win last night at the West End location and had a 10/10 experience - Connor

🍔 Mushi Ni dropped a Double Double Animal Style bao, a wagyu patty done animal style with no tomatoes and thousand island.

🍉 Argosy added the Melon Baller for summer, a frozen mix of cucumber watermelon gin, juiced melon, cucumber cordial, lime, and a kiss of Tajín. Yes please.

🍗 Small Fry is doing World Cup Party Packs for your watch parties, scaling from a 25-wing setup at $45 all the way to 100 wings, 54 wontons, and 8 dips for $160. Pre-order with 24 hours notice.

🥞 Homegrown posted this beautiful photo of blueberry peach lemon-whip French toast and WITHIN HOURS had to post that it was already sold out. You tease!!!

🌭 Spotted Trotter has a great selection of sausages that will be perfect for grilling this weekend AND they gave us a promo code for Anthem readers. 15% off online or in-store with code ANTHEM.

🥪 Important Beef Alert: Tony’s Chicago Beef is at Sceptre til Friday.

🍷 So. Fox opens tonight! The team that brought you Kinship took over the Va-Hi Farm Burger location and plan to serve a seasonal 14-to-16-item menu running from Georgia olives and Gulf oysters to cobia cooked over pecan shells. Reservations are on Resy (but they’re pretty booked up right now).

🕹️ Joystick Gamebar is leaving Edgewood Avenue after almost 14 years, with their last day at the original location set for Sunday, July 12th. A new home is coming, to be announced soon.

See you next week! Gigi’s Italian is closed from July 1 - 9 for summer break.

🍟 Check out these loaded fries from Sweet Auburn BBQ and be prepared to drool.

🥟 Beksa Lala brings Baltic Girl Summer to Breaker Breaker on Mondays in July, 5pm to 9pm: Polish plates, pierogi, and seasonal Baltic flavors, plus all-day happy hour.

🐟 Babs hosts a First Monday Supper Club and it’s a great deal: $28 prix fixe menu with $14 bottles of wine. Check out the menu for their 7/6 dinner here.

😢 Sad news: Nick, the founder of iconic Nick’s Food to Go (famous for Gyros) in Grant Park, recently passed away. His daughter will take over the business and carry on the family legacy. Nick’s will re-open in August after the family returns from Greece, where Nick will be buried. RIP.

📋 We’ve added jobs from Finca to Filter, My Sister’s Room, Opo Coffee, Mary Macs, and more to our Anthem Job Board.
